Arkansas Activities Association to Pay For Insurance

The AAA has agreed to pay for catastrophic insurance for the schools that are participating in wrestling programs this year. Lance Taylor with the AAA noted that since they pay for coverage in other high school sports, they would do so for wrestling. This is part of their goal to treat wrestling as any other sport in Arkansas, even though it is not sanctioned yet.

The Arkansas Activities Association requires that 16 schools participate in a sport before it be recognized for a State Championship. We have 6 schools already wrestling this year and 3 more that have committed for next year. Our goal is that by the year 2007-2008 wrestling will be a sanctioned recognized sport with its own State Championship in Arkansas. We need your help to help start the program for the kids of your school as they need an alternative during the winter season to basketball.

In order to begin wrestling at your school, please have a Trial Sport Letter prepared on your school's letterhead sent to:
