NCWA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The final event on the college schedule in Texas will be the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) National Championships in Garland March 9,10, and 11. The NCWA provides new programs nation wide an opportunity to compete in collegiate wrestling as they work their way up to full status a an NCAA sport. Examples are Newman University (competing in the NCWA in it’s bridge year between NAIA and NCAA Div II status), Marion Military Institute, and UT Arlington. This organization now has over 130 colleges and universities competing and the national championships will provide for some exciting competition. The last wrestling event to occur will be a Real Pro Wrestling event to be held after the NCWA National. This will be a major event and should really be a lot of fun. Mo Lawal is one local wrestler who has gone on to do well in the new venue. CSTV will also be broadcasting this second season of Real Pro Wrestling so this event will be televised as well. As in the previous events, this is also an opportunity to enjoy our sport in our home state. They all have the ability to signal the interest level of Texans in the sport of wrestling and may help in the effort to finally see an NCAA Division I program in the Texas contingents of the Big 12 someday soon.
